1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My media product uses many of the forms and conventions of a real Horror Trailer. I used a lot of similar coventions from other trailers that I watched so that people would be able to recognize my media text as a horror film quickly. If I changed the codes and coventions in a large way people may think that it isnt a horror trailer as those convetions identify horror films. The conventions I used involved my trialer to have a lot of dark scenes thoughout my trailer where it is night time as it makes the trailer more scary and grabs the audience's attention. Existing horror trailers often included dark scary clips to get the right ambience. I have also used a lot of close up shots through out my trailer. This is to create suspense to the audience by capturing the emotions of the actress so that the audience would be able to connect to the audience more. After watching exsisting horror trailers I also realised that they all use similar clothing colours such as white to present purity or ghostly. Red is often used as it connotes blood or danger. Because of this i dressed my characters in the same way to connect more to the genre of the film and could also set the mood in the audience. I have also realised that a lot of popular existing horror films include a child in the film such as 'Insidious'. I chose to also use a little girl in my trailer due to popularity and because of the results that i got from my questionnair that a lot of people find it scary when young children are used to act a scary film and because of this, I expect my film to attract my target audience. I have also used a scary, eerie music in the background to set the pace of the story and to help build up the atmosphere and tension. I also had to make sure that my music fits in well with the video for example, if my music gets louder and faster the video clips should also get faster to fit in with the music otherwise it will not keep the audience hooked on what they are watching because the whole video will be off.

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
The target audience for my product are young adults male and female ages 15-27 that are into horror films. Because of this, I made sure that my main product and ancillary texts (poster and magazine cover) represent this age group for it to connect and attract my audience. I have used the same colour them of red and white throughout my media texts for a number of reasons, for it to stand out as red and white work well together and shouts the horror genre; I have also done this to identify that they are all from the same product. I continued to use the same person on both my ancillary tasks therefore are seen as related to each other and to familiarise the audience of the characters that are in my film. I used the same title font, colours, and logo design. This is to ensure the audience that they are all from the same product. I made sure that I used the same colours throughout that compliments eachother, and appropriate fonts that are easy to understand. Because of the the genre of my film, I have used dark colours throughout my texts to compliment the genre and to also set a scary mood towards my audience.

The combination of all three products is essential in the promotion of a new film across the 2 media platform I have used. My target audience will clearly be able to recognize my film as i have used the same character in all three products. the images in the print products I think stand out very well and people will see that and remember it. Overall, I think that I have done well with my ancillary tasks as they are edited well and looks professional.
3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
To satisfy my target audience, I carried out a questionaire asking a sample of people within my audience age groups, some questions that would give me some feedback and enable me to make adjustement to my products. From my audience feedback i discovered that they find it the scariest when young children take the lead role in a horror film which encouraged me to do use a little girl as part of my cast. One of my questions asked which age group they belonged to. This is to ensure that I am targeting the right age group for my film and that they would be interested in waching my film as well as knowing what rating my film should be. I also asked where they normally find out about new released films. I asked this to give me an idea where to publish my media texts for my film to be known and seen by my audience. After seeing the results, I found out that most of them see 'coming soon' films on tv in the adverts and on posters on buses and bus stops abnd if it attracted them visually, they would search the film on the internet via youtube. I will be publishing my posters on bus stops and buses for definite because of the fact that most of them sees this. It also made me realise that my posters have look really attractive and scary for my target market to take interest. I have also posted my trailer on youtube as this is a popular search engine for videos and is perfect for my trailer to be distributed and for everyone to have access to. After gathering the answers and looking at the results, I applied some of the thoughts and suggestions of the people that took my questionaire to my media texts to make sure that they will be be satisfied and interested but still including my ideas and creativity into it.
4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
The main technologies that I used for my media texts are Adobe products such as Photoshop and Adobe elements to edit ym trailer. I used Photoshop to edit my ancillary tasks and make it look professional. I used the interenet a lot and it became one of the main technologies that I used during this project. I used the web for doing a lot of my research work such as watching existing trailers and researching existing posters and magazine covers. I also used the internet to create this blog where I can easily update and access anytime, anywhere without losing my work as it automatically saves. I found the blog really easy to use and is accessible for other people to see which was helpful as i wasnt worried about losing or damaging any paper work and can also ask people for their opinion about my products by going on my blog. I could also edit the blog on how I want it to look like which made it more interesting and visually attractive rather than having lots of bits of paper. It also made my project organized as well as helping me be organized. I used Adobe Elements for all my film based work as it imports my video clips easily and provides a variety of editing tools that are easy to use and are effective. It also keeps its original video quality which is good as i keeps the text looking professional. I used Photoshop to manipulate images that I used for my poster and magazine cover. i sed this editing software as i already knew how to use it which gave me an advantage. This made my pictures look better and less flat by editing.
The digital skills that i gained from this project are developing my photography skills and camera work by filming. Befire filming, i drew a storyboard of how i wanted the outcome to look like including what audio i wanted on specific scenes, any video transitions, camera angle and voice overs. I did this to remind me what scenes i needed to film and and how to film it as well as which editing tools to use. Some of the scenese changed as i was doing my filming, such as using a different camera angle than what i wrote doen of having the camera in a different place. This is becasue i figured that t would have been better to use a different angle than the one i intended doing.I also did some draft sketching for my magazine and posters to give me ideas on what would look better. I again search on Google images for empire magazines to give me an idea and it showed me either a close up picture of the main character of a scene in the film where it doesnt look like it was a photoshoot but almost like a screenshot of a scene. I used my Nikon D5100 for taking my photos and videos. I used the same camera to prevent myself from losing the documents and to also make it eaier as they are all in one SD card. The camera records in high quality which benefits my trailer and i could also change the settings to get the best photo i could. I used a for most recording and taking still images to prevent it from getting blurry or shaky images which results a bad quality product.
