Film Poster

This is the final outcome of my film poster. I wrote the tagline on the top of the poster because I found out that most film posters also do this. This is because it would grab the viewer’s attention as it is at the top of the page where nothing else is written; unlike if I put it at the bottom of the poster where there is lots of writing, it wouldn’t get noticed as much. This tagline is also part of my trailer so I want it to stick to the audience’s head so that when they hear this phrase, it will remind them of my film.

I placed the film title ‘HOUSE’ in the same font as my magazine cover to have a distinct font where people will recognize. If I changed the font of the film title different from the magazine cover then people will not be able to recognize it as much and may think that they are both different films. I embossed the writing and added the drop shadow effect on Photoshop to enhance the image similar to the magazine cover edit. However, I noticed that it wasn’t as visible because of the black to black colour of the font and background. To solve this issue, I used the colour red for the outside glow effect and increased the spreading to make it more obvious. This made the writing stand out more and viewers will be able to read it easily.

The picture that I used for this poster originally has the child and Paula Ponce, the person who acted as Hannah Queens in my trailer. But I decided to edit her out as I think that the poster will look too busy and the writing won’t stand out, whereas, replacing her with black will make the child stand out more and the colour black connotes impurity, darkness and danger which are good because it adds horror to my poster. The red part on the child's clothes is actually Paula’s hair. I edited it on Photoshop to make it look like blood as blood signifies evil and connotes horror and danger.
